EMERALD FOREST Lodge

The Emerald Forest Lodge is located on the shores of the Pañayacu River, deep, deep in the heart of some of the most beautiful Ecuadorian Amazon forest. The Pañayacu River is fed by the pristine black waters of the lush flooded forest and the Pañacocha lagoon. Recently declared a region of protected forest, Pañacocha's biodiversity is of supreme scientific and eco-touristic importance with 59,000 hectares of primary tropical rainforest surrounding the lodge, ideal for observing Pañacocha's astounding variety of birds, mammals, plants and many other surprises. The main residents of this area are monkeys, sloths, bats, tapirs, jaguars, boars, caciques, toucans, macaws, tanagers, caiman, snakes, frogs, pink fresh-water dolphins and many other species.

Being 4 hours from the closest civilization, we recommend you plan at least a 4 day excursion, but strongly recommend more days. Your visit is planned based on your interests and include a large variety of interesting and exciting activities, like exploring the flooded forest by paddle canoe and motor canoe and hiking in Tierra Firme forest. Other activities are visiting a local indigenous community, nocturnal exploration, fish for piranhas, bird watching and looking for caiman and other surprises. We highly recommend this tour to people with a sense of adventure and love for nature and animals.
