Two hours from Quito is the majestic and popular Cotopaxi National Park, home to the highest active volcano in the world. Here you'll have a chance to visit the refuge hut (4,800m / 15,400ft), glaciers and the Limpiopungo lake. This park is great for nature lovers, since there is a good chance to see llamas, wild horses, deer, rabbits among other species. Limpiopungo lake is a great place to see birds such as the Andean gull, ducks, hummingbirds, caracaras and even Condors. Within the park there are two other impressive rock peaks, Rumiñahui and Sinchulagua. A clear day will give you a memorable journey
