Otavalo and surroundings communities

Days: 2 Nights: 1

The main highlights of this Overnighter is the famous and bustling Otavalo market. Otavalo is considered the most important indigenous market in South America, and when you see it, we are sure you will agree. Besides bartering and shopping in the main market and the Poncho Plaza, we will also visit the surrounding communities that have specialized for generations in craft making. For example, Peguche (pan flutes & weavings), Carabuela (weavings & sweaters), Iluman (hats), Cotacachi (leather goods), San Antonio de Ibarra (wood carvings) to mention a few. We will also visit the spectacular crater lake Cuicocha and the beautiful lake of San Pablo. Lodging will be in an old colonial hacienda. This trip will give you an in depth view of Otavalo and its people.
